John Rapsey - Director, WA Screen Academy
John Rapsey is a prolific series creator and writer of television drama. His credits include Haydaze, Ship to Shore I-III, Sweat , Fast Tracks and Foreign Exchange. He worked as a script editor on RAWFM and produced an anthology of 20 short films for the Arena Channel called In Bed with Desire. Earlier this year he was shortlisted for the Premier's Book Awards (Script category) and nominated as WA Citizen of the Year in Arts and Entertainment. John heads the Scriptwriting program at ECU. He is Chair of the WA branch of the Australian Writers' Guild and a former member of the board of ScreenWest.

Andrew Lewis - Associate Director, WA Screen Academy
Andrew has extensive experience in directing film, television and theatre. He has directed numerous short films including the award winning AFC funded short Calling Gerry Molloy. In television he has directed episodes of the series Streetsmartz, Parralax, Something in the Air, Home and Away, Ocean Star, Snobs, Going Home, Breakers and Pacific Drive. He has also produced, directed and written documentary and magazine programs for the ABC. Andrew is a directing graduate of WAAPA and holds two Masters degrees - one in Film and TV Directing from AFTRS and the other in Film and Theatre Studies from the University of New South Wales. Andrew is currently the Program Director of Performance at WAAPA.

Jules Fortune - Production Coordinator, WA Screen Academy
A Dublin Institute of Technology graduate Jules has many years experience working in the film and television industry in Ireland. She worked as a freelance researcher and production coordinator on a manifold of entertainment programmes and feature length documentaries, including the award winning ‘Imagining Ulysses’. Jules also spent some time working for Ireland’s National Broadcaster, RTE, on such programmes as the renowned ‘Late Late Show'.

Kathy Wheatley - Production Assistant/Marketing WA Screen Academy
As well as having a keen interest in Film and Video, Kathy's main area of expertise lies in marketing and design with 13 years of international experience in print media, specialising in corporate branding.

Consultative Committee


The Consultative Committee is a group of industry professionals who advise the program on content and design. The monitor the quality of production projects and also serve as mentors/guest lecturers in their area of expertise.
